(the HEARTBEAT story)

“Horses, don’t charge ahead,
I called out to the Spirit-Rider, as she made an attempt to charge past my home.
“Spirit-rider, it’s me, the Night.
Listen- you must rest.
“Bring your horses to my field, there they can sleep in the grass, under the stars.
Spirit-rider, lay your beautiful beasts to rest. Come in. Come in. I have food for you. I have a bed for you.
What did you say? Am I free?
...

“Spirit-rider, do you understand?
I know you heard the beating drum.
I know you called your horses and you prayed that you may ride fast enough to reach it.
The sound, the sound of that drum! It was sounding so far away- you wanted to reach it before it ceased!
Oh the fire! The fire that must be burning beside that drum! I know.
Can you imagine, what kind of pure light must be emanating from that fire and that faraway drum, and even still - who is the drummer?
“Can you reach her? You want to know her,
You want her to know you... But it’s all, so so far away..."
